James "Jim" Arrington, age 97 of Sevierville, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Jim was born in Bybee, Tennessee on September 7, 1917. He grew up on a farm in the White Pine area. Jim married Imogene Ballard and they had four sons. In 1941, Jim moved his family to Oak Ridge. He worked for 40 years at Union Carbide-Martin Marietta before retiring. In 1982, Jim and Imogene moved to Sevierville. They were active members of the First Baptist Church in Sevierville. Jim enjoyed gardening and helping others. Jim loved his family, church and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Ballard Arrington in 1998; son, Eddie Wayne Arrington in 2002; son, James Samuel Arrington, Jr., in 2007; his parents; and siblings.
Survivors:
Sons, Robert Lee and Katherine Arrington of Sulphur Junction, OK, Gene and Barbara Arrington of Oak Ridge, TN; Daughters-in-law, Barbara Arnett Arrington, and Ann Hembree Arrington; 10 Grandchildren; and numerous Great-Grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Sevierville, 317 Parkway, Sevierville, TN 37862; Alzheimer's Tennessee, 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919; or to a charity of your choice.
Funeral service 10:30 am Monday, February 2nd the chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. A private interment and graveside service will be held for the family.
