She was a homemaker and a member of New Home Freewill Baptist Church. Her husband, Ulyss Andrew French, infant daughter, parents, John and Sarah Dawson Samples , son-in-law, Junior Seay, sisters, Charity Ballard, Sally Henry, and Nannie Bea Calfee, preceded hen death. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Pratt and her husband, Leroy of Knoxville, Margaret Seay, Eva Holt and her husband, Jimmy, Kathleen Holt and her husband, Bobby, and Marsha Lovelace and her husband, Philip, all of Newport; grandchildren, Randy Holt and his wife, Belinda, Heather Taylor and her husband, Phillip, Miranda Lovelace, all of Newport, Lisa Chamberlain and her husband, Donnie of Knoxville, and SSGT Steven Holt and his wife, Kassandra of Raf Lakenheath, England, also eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Henry and Georgia Huskey and her hsuband, Garland, both of Newport; brothers, Burl Samples of Johnson City, Tenn., and Charlie Samples and his wife, Mettie of Greeneville, Tenn. Mrs. French will also be missed by several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral service will be Tuesday evening, April 23, 2002, at 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leroy Hurst officiating. Graveside Service will be Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at New Home Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, April 23, 2002, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., prior to the service.
