Georgia Huskey, 86, Newport passed away January 3, 2015 at Life CareCenter of Morristown.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a faithful member of New Home Freewill Baptist Church as her health permitted. She taught a youth Sunday School class for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Sarah Samples. Sisters, Charity Ballard, Sally Henry, grace French, Ruby Henry, Nannie Bea Calfee, and Gloria Samples. Brothers, Burl and Charlie Samples.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Garland Huskey. Daughter, Nancy (Randy) Southerland. Sons Dale and jerry Huskey all of Newport, Scott (Susan) Huskey of Rutledge, and daughter-in-law, Linda Huskey of Dandridge. Grandchildren, Jonathan (Marsha) Southerland, Bryan (Kristy) Southerland, Melissa (Brad) Calfee, Jason (Jennifer) Huskey, Janaka (Kevin) Gilland all of Newport. Great grandchildren, Bethany, Kaylee, and Jaylyn Southerland, Sarah, Ruthie, and Brady Calfee, Kaden Gilland, Lee and Dalton Henderson. Special friend, Kathleen Southerland and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 5pm-7pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 2pm at New Home Freewill Baptist Church with Doug King and Darrell Chambers officiating. She will lie in state from 1pm-2pm preceding funeral service. Burial will be in the New Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the New Home Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund.
The family will would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the staff of Life Care Center Nursing Home.
