U.S. Veteran Ronald Lee Baker, age 73 of White Pine, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Life Care Center of Jefferson City. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a former employee of Dominion Automotive, American Appliance and retired from Bush Brothers. He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Baker, infant son, Ronald Lee Baker, Jr., step-daughter, Joy Whitlock, mother-in-law, Callie Shelton; brothers-in-law, Rufus Lindsey of Cosby and Robie Lindsey of Newport; sisters-in-law, Betty Sutton, Ruth Gregg of Newport, and Rhoda Mathis of Cosby. He is survived by his wife, of 32 years, Barbara Lindsey Baker, sons, John (Heather) Baker of Knoxville, and Chris (Monika) Baker of Burlington, Iowa; daughters, Charlene Nelson of Satellite Beach, Florida, Cindy Baker Parzych of East Flat Rock, North Carolina, Christa Wall of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren, Ryan and Shawn Parzych, Tyna (Jon) Plato, Ashlee Wall, Steven and Michael Wall, Isabella, Brock, Sophie, and Canon Baker; great-grandson, Layne; mother, Dimple Baker; brothers, Larry (Ruby) Baker of Fletcher, North Carolina, Jim Baker of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Linda (Walter) Dockins, of Asheville, North Carolina, Brenda (Larry) Conard of Asheville, North Carolina; brothers-in-law, Ruble Lindsey of Cosby, Ray (Lois) Lindsey of Dallas, North Carolina, Virgil Sutton of Newport, Ronnie Lindsey of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Randall Lindsey of White Pine, Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Ruby Baxter of Gastonia, North Carolina, Helen (Bill) Thatcher of Lake Wales, Florida, Loretta (Thomas) Moore of Parrottsville, Tennessee, and Debbie (Tracy) Lane of Newport; numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks to the staff of Life Care Center of Jefferson City, who cared for Ron.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm Saturday, January 24, 2015 with funeral services following at 2:00 pm in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Chris Baker officiating.
Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
