A Jefferson County High School sophomore died Tuesday morning in a single-vehicle traffic accident.
Amelia C. Williford , 16, Brethern Church Road, White Pine, was dead on arrival at Jefferson Memorial Hospital following the 7:50 a.m. crash.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper John Woods reported that Williford was driving a 1987 Mazda pick-up truck on Spring Creek Road on the way to school at the time of the accident.
Trooper Woods reported that Williford apparently lost control of her vehicle in a tight curve. Trooper Woods reported that Williford 's vehicle left the wet roadway and struck two trees broadside on the driver's side.
Trooper White reported that Williford was wearing a seat-belt at the time of the crash.
Funeral services will be held on 10:30 a.m. Friday at the French Broad Church of the Brethern Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the church.
Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge, is in charge.
The family requests that any memorial gifts in memory of Williford be made to the Jefferson County High School Band Booster Club Equipment Fund.

WHITE PINE- Amelia C. Williford , age 16, of Brethren Church Road, White Pine, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2001, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Amelia was a Sophomore at Jefferson County High School where she was a member of the Jefferson County High Band. She also was a member of the Swann's Chapel Baptist Church and the church youth program.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Thurman Loveday.
She is survived by her father and mother, Fred Jr. and Pam Loveday Williford ; brother, James "Donnie" Williford ; grandparents, Martha Strange Loveday, of Dandridge, and Fred Sr. and Betty Williford , of White Pine; aunts, Barbara Rauls, of Missouri, Rita Cope, of Newport, and Ina Hudson, of Texas; uncle, Jay Loveday, of Dandridge; and several great aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 8:30 p.m., at Swann's Chapel Baptist Church, with Rev. John Price and Rev. Bobby Kitts officiating. Interment graveside services, Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the French Broad Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Thursday afternoon and evening, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the church prior to services.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial gifts in memory of Amelia be made to the JCHS Band Booster Club, Equipment Fund, %Darrell Chambers, 733 Hart Rd., Jefferson City, TN 37760.
