- [S80] Rawlings Funeral Home, (http://www.rawlingsfuneralhome.com/), 4 Dec 2003.
Estell Lee Stinnett, 92 of Sevierville went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 4, 2003. Estell began his wondrous, final journey at his residence surrounded by the family who had loved and taken care of him in his later years, just as he had taken care of them when they were children.
One of the highlights of Estell’s life was being a charter member of the Wears Valley Independent Baptist Church, a church that he helped build and nurture. During his life he had worked hard on the University of Tennessee Farm, Little River Railroad and Cherokee Orchard as well as working his own farm. Estell was always willing to take time out of his schedule to discuss one of the true loves of his life, the Bible. He was an avid student of the Bible and could quote many of the scriptures from memory.
Waiting for Estell to join them in their Heavenly Home was his loving wife of 61 years, Lola Whaley Stinnett; daughter, Betty Hurst; parents, Ashley and Lilly McCarter Stinnett; brother, Bruce Stinnett; sisters, Ina Brewer, Mattie Manis and 4 grandchildren.
Estell left behind to mourn his passing, but rejoicing at his joining his Heavenly family are his sons, Leon Stinnett and wife Jo, Ray Stinnett and wife Ruth, Shirrell Stinnett, Dale Stinnett and wife Carolyn, Harold Stinnett and wife Jeanette, all of Sevierville; 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren; brother Wayne Stinnett and wife Gladys of Sevierville; sister, Blanche Adams of Maryville.
Service will be 8:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2003 at Rawlings Funeral Chapel with Rev. Andy Miller, Rev. Sam Justus, and Rev. Jonathan Hatcher officiating. Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Sunday, December 7 at Headrick’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6 at Rawlings Funeral Home.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks in appreciation to Girling Home Health and Adventa Hospice and special caregiver, granddaughter Sandy Codgill for the very special and loving care that they provided for Estell.
The grandsons have been honored with the request to serve as pallbearers for their very loved grandfather.
Condolences may be conveyed to the family through our website.
