Donny Lewis Gilbert, age 70 of Seymour, TN went to his eternal home Thursday May 25, 2017. He was a graduate of South High School and the University of Tennessee. Donny taught in both Knox and Sevier County school systems. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Seymour. Donny was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the Air Force. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Gilbert; and younger sister, Pamela Gilbert.
Survivors include:
Wife of 45 years: Teresa Gilbert
Daughter: Melanie McDaniel and husband Eric
Sons: Benjamin Gilbert and wife Candace, Joseph Gilbert and wife Brandi
Grandchildren: Grace, Jack, Joshua, and Crosby
Mother: Ellen Gilbert
Brother: David Gilbert and wife Margaret
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shiloh Baptist Church to be used for the Guatemala Mission Project. Shiloh Baptist Church, 1432 Shiloh Church Rd., Seymour, TN 37865 (865) 429-0552.
Funeral service 3:30 PM Sunday at Shiloh Baptist Church, Seymour with Rev. Glenn Metts officiating. Interment 2 PM Monday in Knob Creek Cemetery with full military honors provided by American Legion Post No. 104. The family will receive friends 1:30-3:30 PM Sunday at Shiloh Baptist Church, Seymour.
