ANN LOVE BALCH, age 78, of Jefferson City, TN passed away May 14, 2013 at Physicians Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. She was a speech therapist with Newport Grammar School for many years, and a member of First United Methodist Church of Jefferson City, numerous bridge clubs, literary clubs, DAR, Sans Souci, and Les Amies. She enjoyed gardening and landscaping, and her flowers were admired by many. She was preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Gertrude Love; husbands, Dr. Robert McMahan and Charles D. Balch; brother, Robert Love; sisters, Mary Jo Allen and Evelyn Starnes. She is survived by step-children, Carolyn Berryhill and husband Doug of Jefferson City, Thad Balch and wife Nancy of Parrottsville, Jane Burns and husband Paul of Knoxville; grandchildren, Ellison Berryhill, Nathan Balch, Dewayne Daniel, Brandi England, Taylor Mayfield and Paul Burns; great-grandchildren, Kaley, Stephen, Keira, Mikaela, Tanner, Sonora; nieces and nephews, Beth Delp, Ed Allen, Julia Pasillas, Rob Love, Nancy Owens, Steven Starnes and Sarah Dellinger; friend and landscaper, Karol Hamilton. A special thank you to caregivers at Chandler House, Jefferson Memorial Hospital and Physicians Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church of Jefferson City with Rev. Doug Wilder officiating. Receiving of friends will be from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. prior to the service. Family and friends will gather at 9:45 a.m. Monday morning at Union Cemetery in Newport for a 10:00 a.m. graveside interment service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 2011 Branner Avenue, Jefferson City, TN 37760, or The Pat Summitt Foundation, East Tennessee Foundation, 625 Market Street, Suite 1400, Knoxville, TN 37902.
