McMahan will celebrate his 90th birthday Sunday. He was born May 6, 1922 in Newport to the late Sam and Maude (Nuckles) McMahan. He is married to Katherine (Leonard) McMahan. They recently celebrated their 68th anniversary. His family includes son Mike and wife Kay, of Maryville and the late Steven McMahan and wife Rita, of Oak Ridge. He has two grandchildren, Kara Potts (Jimmy) of Mt. Juliet and David McMahan (Michelle) of Cleveland. There are three great-grandchildren — Lilly and Katelyn Potts and Tucker McMahan.
