Mrs. Essie Huff Toby , born January 1, 1937, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center. She was a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Toby was an avid quilter before moving to the nursing home. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd H. Toby , son Kenneth (Kenny) Toby , parents Kenneth and Effie (Southerland) Huff , sister and brother-in-law Mary and Everette Clark, and sister-in-law Shirley Huff . Survivors include her brother Harold (Peggy) Huff , sister Ann (Wiley) Woody, all of Parrottsville; a special niece Annesa Woody of Parrottsville, who was by her side until she passed; nieces Dionne (Tim) Stutts of Mooresville, NC and Vicki (Jason) Hudson of Greeneville, TN; nephews Charles (Paula) Huff and Dana (Chandie) Clark, all of Parrottsville; great-nieces Olivia Fillers of Parrottsville, Jaden Stutts of Mooresville, NC; and Abby Hudson of Greeneville; great-nephews Christopher and Nicholas Huff and Jackson Clark, all of Parrottsville; Seth Hudson of Greeneville; and Caleb Stutts of Mooresville, NC; and Ken Fillers of Parrottsville who she thought the world of. Additional survivors include several cousins and friends, including a special cousin Betty Jo Sams, who visited her every week while in the nursing home. The family would like to thank the staff of Signature Health for everything they did for Essie . She loved them all. They also would like to thank DaVita Dialysis Clinic for the care she received there. A special thank you to the caring and compassionate nurses and doctors on the 5500 floor at Johnson City Medical Center who saw to her care. Also a thank you to the Hospice Care at Johnson City Medical Center. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2014, in the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wiley Woody officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2014, at the Faubion Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. interment. The family will receive friends from 5:00—7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home prior to the service. Arrangements by Costner-Maloy [S58] Marriage Certificate.
