December 22, 1955 - November 5, 2017 Sammy Roger Kelly, Sr., age 61 of Kodak, lost his battle with cancer, passing away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, November 5, 2017, at his home with the love of his life by his side. Sam was a loving and caring son, husband, father, papaw, brother, uncle, and friend to everyone he met. His wife, kids, and grandkids were what he lived for. He had a big heart and a great sense of humor making everyone laugh no matter the circumstance. Sam was the owner and operator of Kelly Excavating for over 30 years. He was employed at Jefferson County Highway Department until a brain aneurysm sent him to an early retirement. Sam enjoyed the outdoors, collecting guns, and his best buddy, his pet Skoby Lee. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Mary Lou Kelly; brothers, James Larry Kelly and Robert Ray Kelly; and sister, Audrey Kelly. He is survived by his soulmate of over 20 years, Katrina Kelly; sons, Sammy Kelly, Jr. and Thomas (Beth) Kelly; grandchildren, Mason, Noah, and Khloe Kelly; brother, Charlie (Cindy) Kelly; sister, Jodie (Jerry) Hare; and several special nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Thursday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 7 PM with Rev. Lee Breeden officiating.
