Born Jan. 26, 1936, in Rowan County, Mrs. Tucker was a daughter of the late Charles S. and Mary Patterson Thompson. A homemaker, she was educated in Cabarrus County schools and was a member of Near Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry P. Johnson. Survivors include husband Grady D. Tucker ; daughters Jatana Marie Smith, Newport, Tenn., and Shelia D. Mullis, Locust; sister Doris Curtis, Mooresville; half sister Mabel Black, Salisbury; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. Services: 12:30 p.m. Friday, Whitley's Funeral Home chapel, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Mike Mullis. Burial, Salisbury National Cemetery. Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
