MELLON , LENA D. - age 79, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 30, 2003 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Mellon was a member of Valley View Baptist Church in Knoxville, and she previously taught Sunday School at North Acres Baptist Church for many years. She was a devoted servant to God first, then her husband and children. Mrs. Mellon was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Clyde Mellon a son, Cecil Ray Mellon and a grand-daughter, Selena Mellon . Survivors include a daughter, Karen Baldwin and husband, Clarence 5 sons, Richard Mellon and wife, Judy, Troy Mellon and wife, Shann, Bill Mellon and wife, Saundra, Don Mellon and wife, Leslie, and Mark Mellon and wife, Cindy 15 grandchildren 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2003 at Valley View Baptist Church with a funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Dewey Cooper and Rev. Steve Grindstaff officiating. A graveside service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Woodlawn Cemetery in South Knoxville with her sons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of the Valley View Baptist Church. Highland South Memorial Park, Funerals and Cremations, Chapman Hwy, is assisting the family with arrangements. 573-7300
