MELLON , CLYDE - age 80, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at the Asbury Nursing Home, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Mellon was a native of Knoxville, and has spent the majority of his life in this area. He was a member of Valley View Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and he retired from the KUB water department. Clyde was a devoted husband and father. Mr. Mellon was preceded in death by a son, Cecil Ray Mellon . Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Lena Mellon a daughter, Karen Baldwin and husband, Clarence five sons, Richard Mellon and wife, Judy, Troy Mellon and wife, Shannon, Bill Mellon and wife, Saundra, Don Mellon and wife, Leslie, and Mark Mellon and wife, Cindy 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 4, 2003, at the Valley View Baptist Church in Knoxville. A funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the church with Rev. Dewey Cooper officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Valley View Baptist Church.
