June 20, 1972 - June 12, 2015 Resided in Knoxville, TN Michael "Mike" Townsend, 42, of Knoxville went to be with the Lord Friday June 12th. Mike had a passion for dirt track racing and it truly was his ministry. Mike's smile alone showed the love of Jesus to so many people around him. He truly loved his family and race family and nothing could deny that. You could not be around Mike and not love him. His laughter and smile could light up the room. He was preceded in death by his Aunt Helen Ford, Aunt Rhonda Townsend, Uncle Joe Townsend, and Uncle Jack Rogers. Mike is survived by his loving wife Teresa Townsend, his 3 daughters and son-in-laws, Heather and Ralph Dyer, Chasney Townsend, Ashlyn Townsend and Gavin Murphy; his loving parents, Lewis and Geraldine Townsend, his sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Ed Dodgen, his nieces and nephews, Whitney and Logan Blaylock, and Lindsay and Corey Whitted. Mike had 9 grandchildren, Sean, Kadin, Michael, Bentley, Liam, Austin, Hunter, Maddie, and Brooklyn. The family will receive friends 4-6:45 PM Thursday, June 18th with funeral service to follow at 7 PM with Rev. Bill Enfinger and Rev. David Gibson officiating in Atchley's Seymour Chapel. Interment 11 AM Friday Highland South Memorial Park, 9010 E. Simpson Road, Knoxville, TN with Gavin Murphy, Calvin Webb, Randy Lane, Austin Lane, Ralph Dyer, Logan Blaylock and Corey Whitted serving as Pallbearers.
