Katie McMahan died on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at the age of 87 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on February 27, 1928 in Sevierville, TN where she was a lifelong resident. Katie was the loving matriarch of her family. She was always selfless and giving. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The time she gave and the memories she made with her children, grandchildren, will always be cherished. Katie was such an inspiration to all and she touched the hearts of everyone she met with her beautiful smile, generous heart, and giving spirit. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sevierville, and lived her faith in every aspect of her life. Katie served in leadership roles for many years with the Women's Missionary Union, Vacation Bible School, Bus Ministry and Christmas Store. She was a dedicated and faithful member of the FBC Choir. Katie also helped serve at Wednesday night suppers and gave her time as a prayer warrior at home and in the church prayer room ministry. She will be missed by her church family who loved her so much. Katie also loved volunteering at the Sevier County Food Ministry. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Chandler McMahan; parents, Shelby and Selma Allen; sister, Eula Ogle; brother, Ralph Allen.
She is survived by:

Son: Chandler McMahan, Jr. and wife Becky of Sevierville, TN
Grandchildren: Wesley and Patrick Gibbs, Chandra McMahan Thompson and husband Eric, Amber McMahan Sams and husband Jay, Rebecca Katelyn McMahan and husband David, Miles and Maddie Dutton
Great-grandchildren: Chandler and Alexa Thompson, Jameson Sams

Funeral Service 7 PM Friday , August 14th at First Baptist Church Sevierville with Rev. Jerry Hyder and Rev. Scott Andrews officiating. Family and friends will meet for interment 10AM Saturday in Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4:30 to 6:30PM Friday at First Baptist Church Sevierville.
