Toddler killed in truck accident
SEVIERVILLE —
The Sevier County Sheriff's Office and state Department of Children Services are investigating the circumstances around the death of a 16-month-old child who was struck by a vehicle in his family's yard Sunday.
Aden C. Ball, of 5325 Cocke County Line Road, had apparently gotten out of the house on his own while family members were working on a tractor, Sheriff Ron Seals said Monday.
"Adults in the home did not realize the child had wandered outside prior to the incident," Seals said.
Several family members were working on a tractor around 6:30 p.m. that evening, and at some point they asked a 17-year-old relative to move a truck. He didn't see the child and pulled forward, running over him. Aden Ball died at the scene, Seals said.
The sheriff's office and DCS are investigating the death.
