October 17, 1916 - January 4, 2010 Maryville, Tennessee Harold A. Grow, 93, joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven Monday, January 4, 2010. Grow, a Maryville native, spent most of his life working for ALCOA. He was a trustee and member of Piney Level Missionary Baptist Church, a clock maker, gardener, hiker, and a loving father and grandfather. His clock-making skills and hiking exploits were detailed in several newspaper and magazine articles over the years. Mr. Grow dedicated his life to helping others, as did his father, Lenny "Shorty" Grow, who built many homes in Maryville and served as a deputy sheriff. Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Lynn Grow Cox of Maryville and her husband Murray; grandsons, Brian David Cox and Clay Douglas Cox; granddaughter-in-law, Rachael Cox; great granddaughter, Chelsea Lynn Cox; great grandson, Caleb Douglas Cox; sisters-in-law, Imogene Chambers, Billie June Wilds, and Helen Grow; and a host of friends and family. Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m, Wednesday, January 6, 2010 in the Trinity Chapel with Rev. George Macht officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Grandview Cemetery for the interment.
