Mabel (Thomas- Hackney ) Davis, age 81 of Maryville, died Monday, April 26, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mabel retired from Belden Wire and Cable after 20 years of service. She is preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Mary Lilly Thomas; sisters, Barbara Jean and Myrble; brother, Ottis; father and mother-in-law, Burt and Zola Davis of Alcoa; grandson, Robbie Green. She is survived by her husband of 42 years Jim; sons and daughter-in-law, Tom and Vicky Hackney of Arizona, Gary and Judy Hackney , and Jerry ( Mick ) Hackney all of Maryville; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Hannah of Maryville, Sue and Larry Click of Friendsville, and Sandy and Lynn Wilhoite of Kentucky; brothers, Albert Thomas of Indiana, and Howard Thomas of Iowa; sisters, Fran Anderson of Indiana, and Lorene Williamson of Florida; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a special beloved granddaughter and caretaker Debbie Russell of Maryville. Funeral services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Adrian Jones officiating. Family and friends will meet at Memorial Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 29 to proceed to Sherwood Memorial Gardens for a 11:00 a.m. graveside service. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday April 28 at the Funeral Home. Mabel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
