U.S. Veteran Cope, James S., age 72 of Maryville, went to be with his heavenly father Wednesday May 31 at 5:45 PM at Colonial Hills Nursing Home, after a long illness. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard for a total of thirty six years. He was a very active volunteer for the Empty Pantry Fund. James (Jim) was preceded in death by parents, Willie and Mary Lou Cope; sister, Bernia Campbell. Survivors include his wife of forty- five years, Reba Jo Everett Cope; children and spouses, James “Butch” and Kaye Cope, Sharon and David Tiller, Kristi LeAnn and David Howell Jones; grandchildren, Casey Cope, Christopher and Jason Ritchey, David Samuel Jones; brothers and sisters in law, Leon and Sue Cope, Stanley and Glenda Cope, Kenneth and Charlene Everett, Don and Lula Everett, Ronald and Zelda Everett; sister and brother in law, Wanda and Max Hodge; brother in law, Albert Campbell; special friends Bert and Thelma Buchanan; and many nieces and nephews. Many thanks to Betsy and all personnel at Colonial Hills Nursing Home. Funeral will be held Friday, June 2, 2006 at 8:00 PM at Miller Funeral Home Cedar Chapel, Rev. George Macht, Rev. John Max Hodge officiating. Interment service will be held Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Piney Level Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Empty Pantry Fund P.O. Box 9740 Maryville, TN 37802 attention Paul Bales or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2200 Sutherland Ave. Suite H102, Knoxville, TN 37919-9921 in Mr. Cope’s memory.
