PROFFITT, CLARENCE ELBERT - born May 30, 1916 went to be with the Lord Saturday, August 5, 2000. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He was a Charter member of Prospect Grange and a member of the Alcoa 25 Year Club, having worked there for 43 years. Clarence loved his family and his church. He was preceded in death by son, Leonard Elbert Proffitt. Survivors: wife of 60 years, Irene Patty Proffitt; daughter-in-law, Bobbie Sue Proffitt; granddaughters, Susan Gibson and Jennifer Proffitt; great-granddaughter, Jessica Gibson. Funeral service 7:30 p.m. Monday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Frye and Rev. Robert Weaver officiating, music by Bill Gillenwater. Interment 10 a.m. Tuesday in Prospect Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 5-7:30 p.m. Monday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home.
