Sam George Lambert, Jr. "relinquished the reins" as he went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, a perfect day to go home as George lived his life for the Lord. George loved the Lord as well as his family. He was a devoted husband to Dolores Lambert for over 66 years. They were high school sweethearts and displayed a love that is less and less common these days. George was an entrepreneur his entire life and is regarded as one of the pioneers to the limestone crushing business. He was an owner/operator at multiple quarries all over the South, as he provided not only for his own family but hundreds of others as well. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland. Maryville was considered home to George and Dolores, although their last 20-plus years were spent in Cleveland. He was the father of three sons and one daughter as well as a grandfather and great-grandfather. He always made efforts to see all the games and recitals. George was a very strong man in every way but at the same time was as tender at heart as the smallest child. His boisterous way will be sadly missed but will never be forgotten as he has touched all our lives in some form or fashion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam George, Sr. and Jessie Keller Lambert; brothers, Ralph Lambert, Jack Lambert and Glenn Lambert; and sisters, Virginia Lambert Reanue and Francis Lambert Denton. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Lambert of Cleveland; four children, Mike Lambert of Nashville; Steve Lambert and wife, Nancy of Cleveland; Kelly Lambert and wife, Angie of Ooltewah; and Amy Lambert Bailey of Cleveland; six grandchildren, Lisa Johnson and husband, Jamie of Nashville; Laura Farmer and David of Nashville; Michael Lambert of Austin, Texas; Kirk Lambert and wife, Renee of Cleveland; Adam Lambert and Sarah of Knoxville; and Hayden Bailey of Cleveland; six great-grandchildren, Jax Lambert, Drew Lambert and Claire Lambert, all of Cleveland; Kate Johnson and Sydney Johnson of Nashville, and Ella Marie Lambert of Knoxville; sister, Thelma Lambert Farmer of Maryville; three brothers, Gene Lambert and wife, Nancy, and Gerald Lambert all of Maryville; Eddie Lambert and wife, Nancy of Rogersville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at McCammon Ammons Click Funeral Home in Maryville with Reverend Tom Wickes officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery with Steve Lambert, Mike Lambert, Kelly Lambert, Kirk Lambert, Adam Lambert and Charlie Lay serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014, at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and from 1-3 p.m. Friday Aug. 28, 2014, at McCammon Ammons Click Funeral Home prior to the funeral service. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 733123-1718 or Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Dr., Chattanooga, TN 37416. We invite you to send a message of condolence and view the Lambert family guestbook at www.ralphbuckner.com. Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
