Mrs. Gladys F. Vandergriff, age 87 of Sevierville, passed away Sunday, August 24th. She was born April 8, 1927 in Swain Co. NC, to the late James and Helen Cochran. Mrs. Vandergriff was a member of the Church of God of Anderson, IN, loved the church and working in her flower gardens, and was a very good Christian woman who was loved by all and adopted as “Mom” by many. She is survived by: her loving husband of 65 years, Frank Vandergriff; Son, DeWayne (Dai) Vandergriff; Daughters, Darlene (Danny) Arwood, Delphine (Sam) Davis, and Wanda (Jerry Cole) Barker; brother, Jonah Cochran; Grandchildren, Xixi Li, Keith (Jessica) Vandergriff, Joy (Aaron) Harold, Frank Vandergriff, Kyle Arwood, Jeremy (Amber) Davis, Allison (John) Clabo, Jessie & Freddie Barker, Melody Barton, & Greg Barker; and 10 Great-Grandchildren. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by; Brothers, Billy and Jack Cochran; and a sister, Mildred Chapman. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 26, at 7p.m. at Valley Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Tony McCandless officiating and visitation beginning at 5 p.m. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 27th at 10a.m. in the Highland South Memorial Park.
