Brenda S. Ellison, age 61, of Newport passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents Ansel and Wilma Sawyer; and son-in-law Scot Parker. She is survived by her husband, Dan Ellison of Newport; daughters, Tonya Wilson, (Bryne) of Old Fort, NC, Stephanie Parker-Ledford (Derrick) of Marshall, NC, step daughter, Cyndee Inman (Tim) of Morristown; step-son, Joel Ellison (Jennifer) of Newport; brothers Larry Sawyer (Patricia) of Hot Springs, Clyde Sawyer (Peggy) of Candler, NC, and Junior Sawyer of Clyde, NC; grandchildren, Cortney Hill (Carlo) of Cornith, MS, Christy Testerman (Ryan) of Swannanoa, NC, Candance Young (Jake) of Marshall, NC and Sawyer and Spencer Parker of Marshall, NC; special sister-in-law and caregiver, Kathryn Raper of Del Rio. The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice and Jennifer Freeman. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 pm Monday, September 15, 2014 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Messer and Jerry Raines officiating. Burial will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 Monday prior to funeral service.
