Chad Eric Owenby, age 38, of Newport passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014. He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Owenby; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Owenby (Stanley & Sarah Vinson) and uncle, Christopher Owenby. He is survived by his mother, Linda (John Messer) Owenby of Newport and best friend, Shea Black of Newport. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Union Cemetery with Justin Vinson officiating The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Sunday at Manes Funeral Home prior to graveside services. Chad Eric Owenby: Newport man dies in two-vehicle crash
NEWPORT —Chad Eric Owenby, 38, of 212 Twilight Lane, in Newport , died after he allegedly lost control of the vehicle he was driving west on East Highway 25/70, crossed over into the opposite lane, and collided with another vehicle, on Thursday, Aug. 7, the Newport Police Department reported.
Owenby was allegedly driving a 1992 Honda Accord owned by Donald Le Dover Jr., of Lethco Lane, in Newport , when, around 5:25 p.m., near the Highway 73 intersection, he allegedly lost control of the vehicle and crossed over into eastbound traffic, where he collided with a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Reginald Allen, 39, of 518 Punkton Road, in Del Rio, according to a report by NPD Patrolman Mike Robey.
Allen suffered "incapacitating" injuries, as did the passenger in his vehicle, Jackie Allen, 61, of the same address. Both were taken by EMS ambulance to Newport Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
