Alice Kirby Whaley, 86, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Charlie H. Whaley; and is survived by two daughters, Patricia Stubbs and her husband, Robert T., of Mechanicsville and Betty Watson, of Richmond; a son, Charlie Lee Whaley and wife, Melisa B., of Mechanicsville; six grandchildren, Tammy Ingram, Tana Starke, Robert T. Stubbs Jr., Sherry Rankin, Rodney E. Stubbs, and Megan N. Watson; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Melissa Vaughan; a brother, Beverly Randolph Kirby; many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Mrs. Whaley was a member of Fairmount Memorial Baptist Church and a retired employee of the Liggit Myer Tobacco Company and Virginia National Bank. She worked for many years with the Boys Scouts of America. Her family received friends Friday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, where services were conducted Saturday. Interment Hanover Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bon Secours Hospice, 8580 Magellan Parkway, Building 4, Richmond, Va. 23227.
