Jane Balch Purkey, 84, passed from this life on July 17, 2014, at Asbury Place Assisted Living Facility with loving family by her side. Born on January 6, 1930, in Laughman, FL. Jane lived most of her life in Morristown, TN, and the last 15 years in Maryville. Her purpose in life was to love and care for others, a goal achieved through her devotion to family and friends and through her work as an LPN. She was a good listener who knew how to evoke laughter in herself and others, an avid collector of angels, and a joyful seeker of new friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Charles Hubert Balch and Lorena Harrill Balch, and her husband, Ernest Clifton Purkey.
Jane is survived by her sister, Patricia Balch Harville; children, Bobbie Vance Briggs (Ron), David Vance (Vicki), Judy Purkey Pegram (Joe Magdic), and Patricia Lynn Purkey; grandchildren, Sarah Briggs, Ronald Briggs (Elizabeth), William Vance (Danielle), Faith Vance, Jason Tickel (Tara), Arlon Pearson, Alex Pearson, Cliff Purkey (Grace), and Rose Purkey; and 15 great grandchildren. Jane's family sends gratitude and love to Amy White, a special friend and neighbor and to the entire staff of Asbury Place Assisted Living for caring for her as if she were family.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Dr. Stan Rushing officiating. Family and friends will re-assemble immediately following the service at Grandview Cemetery for the interment service.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Providence Presbyterian Church, Welcome Table Fund, 703 W. Broadway, Maryville, TN 37801.
