Elmer Eugene Ridenour, age 79 of Halls, passed away at home on July 17, 2014. He was a member of Fountain City United Methodist Church, Christian Home Builders Sunday School Class, Silver Hammers, and the Romeo Club. He enjoyed fishing, reading, spending time at the beach and was an avid Lady Vols Basketball fan. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960, serving his time in Germany. He touched the hearts of all who met him with his gentle nature, kind heart and infectious smile. He was retired from International Paper after 42 years of service. Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Louisa Ridenour and brother-in-law, Milas Stooksbury. Survived by loving wife of 57 years, Sarah; sister, Lucille Stooksbury; nephew, Kenneth (Linda) Stooksbury; brothers and sisters-in-law, H. E. and Chris Leach, Wade and Nancy Leach, Lorene Thomas, Dollie Leach; nieces, Deanna Thomas, Patti Mash and Debbie Pacheo; nephews, David, Caleb, Aidan, Mark, Greg, and Jeff Leach, Steve, Johnny and Roy Thomas; several great and great-great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all the physicians and nurses who so graciously cared for him during his extended illness. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 8:00 pm Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow at 8:00 pm, Rev. Daniel Ogle and Rev. Jeff Leach officiating. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 am Monday to proceed to Fort Sumter Community Cemetery for 11:00 am interment. Pallbearers: David, Caleb, Aidan and Mark Leach, Steve and Roy Thomas, and Kenneth Stooksbury. Honorary pallbearers: Christian Home Builders Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fountain City United Methodist Church, Fountain City Ministries at 212 Hotel Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37918.
