Lois Eileen Butler Ballard, 85 of Knoxville went home to be with her Lord and loved ones who were waiting for her to join them. She began her glorious journey on September 13, 2005 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
On December 28, 1919 Lois was born to the late Shirley W. and Stella McMahan Butler. After graduating high school Lois continued her education and graduated from Lincoln Memorial University and then taught at Pittman Center School. For 48 years Lois was a member of the Colonial Heights United Methodist Church. Besides being a faithful member of the church, Lois was also a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary of Sevierville.
Besides her parents, her husband Gordon Ballard, brothers, Charles and Harold Butler were waiting for Lois to join them in Heaven.
Leaving behind to celebrate Lois’s life, but mourning their loss are her daughters, Shirley Ann Ballard, Karen Ballard Motzer and husband Larry; grandson, Richard Lyman Motzer all of Knoxville. Besides the immediate family Lois will be missed by several nieces, nephews, countless students and a host of friends whose lives she has touched.
A celebration of Lois’s life will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2005 at Rawlings Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robert Countiss, pastor of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow the service at Pigeon Forge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time at Rawlings Funeral Home.
