BUTLER, HAROLD McMAHAN - age 72 of Pigeon Forge, died Friday, November 3, 2000. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pigeon Forge, where he served in several positions. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict in which he earned a Bronze Star in service to hid county. He was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn.; a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars; and was a charter member of Elks Lodge #1925. Mr. Butler carried on the tradition of Butler's General Merchandise in Pigeon Forge for many years after the death of his father. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Helton Butler and parents, Shirley W. and Stella M. Butler.
Survivors: children, Neal Butler, Lisa Butler and Laura Butler; step son and family, Tony and Nancy Whaley and children, Justin and Kristen; step daughter and family, Debbie and Philip Randolph and children, Alex and Sydney; brother and sister in law, Charles and Dorothy Butler; sister, Lois Ballard; sister in law and husband, Ernestine and Ed Biddle; brothers in law and wives, Herb and Shirley Helton, Leroy and Barbara Helton; special cousin and wife, Howard and Phyllis Helton; nephews, Charles William Butler, David Butler, Richard Butler; nieces. Cynthia Lytle, Karen Motzer, Shirley Ballard. Family and friends will meet 10 a.m. Monday at Pigeon Forge Cemetery for graveside service and interment with Rev. W.W. Cope officiating. The family will recieive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Pigeon Forge, P.O. His parents were Shirley W. and Stella M. Butler.
