Lake Junaluska, Pearl Conard Messer, age 91, passed away on January 30, 2009 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Theney Williams Conard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Messer, who died in 1981; one daughter, Mattie Green; one grandson, Michael Green; four brothers; and three sisters. She was a homemaker who loved her family and always enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Center Pigeon Baptist Church and attended Fellowship Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Margaret Sutton of Lake Junaluska, Pauline Messer of Waynesville, and Lucille Williams of Greenwood, SC; four sons, Loyd Messer, Jr. and his wife, Randie, of Candler, Roy Messer and his wife, Shirley, and James Messer and his wife, Brenda, all of of Newport, TN; and Ben Robert Messer and his wife, Karen, of Greeneville, TN; one sister, Naomi Franklin, of North Mills River; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2009 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Anthony Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
