Merle Padgett Dawson, age 84, of Bybee passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014 at her home peacefully with her family by her side. She was a lifelong member of Bear Creek Missionary Baptist Church that her family help build. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Lula Padgett; grandson, Wesley “Brad” Dawson; sister, Lorene Lingo; brothers, Billy Joe, Reford and Jimmy Lee Padgett; nephews, Joey and Jason Stepp; and uncle, Jack Walton. She is survived by her son, Terry (Judy) Dawson; daughter, Linda Gail Sneed; grandchildren, Travis (Katrina) Dawson of Bybee, Alishia (Kino) Dalton of Rutledge; sister, Mary (Bobby) Stepp; brother-in-law, Johnny (Rosa) Lingo; nephews, Mike (Lisa) Padgett; Chris (Lorie) Padgett, Scotty (Kim) Stepp; nieces, Coleene Ball, Leslie Padgett; special friends, Nobel Dyke, H. A. and Otha Mae Reed family, the Ellison family and Tommy (Marvin) Dyke. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Viola Huges and Jonice Mayes of At Home; also Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice staff; nurses, Lisa Tolliver, Bessie Hayes, Vera, Rev. Ron Carell and Rev. Mike Elkins and everyone who helped in anyway. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Monday October 20, 2014 at Manes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Bear Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Elkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Bear Creek Cemetery.
