Ralph Bull Jr., 80, of Beverly Road, West Asheville, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at the Hospice Solace Center.
Mr. Bull was a native of Buncombe County and was a son of the late Joseph Ralph Bull Sr. and Clara Efird Bull. He was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Ralph Bull III.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Butler Bull; two daughters, Sue Cox and her husband, Philip, of Portland, Maine and Norma Spencer and her husband, Bob, of Asheville; four grandchildren, Jennifer Spencer, Brian Cox, Sara Cox and Robert Spencer III; one brother, Clifford Bull of Durham and one sister, Marie Seay of Candler. Mr. Bull is also survived by three nieces and one nephew.
Mr. Bull owned and operated Asheville Truck Service, which served all of Western North Carolina, for over twenty years. He retired from Carolina Freight Carriers in 1986.
He was a member of West Asheville Presbyterian Church and a former member of Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church. He also belonged to the West Asheville Lions Club, the WNC Maintenance Council, the Civil Air Patrol, the Army Air Corps and was a founding member of the Buncombe County Rescue Squad.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue with the Rev. Dr. Archie Willis Gaines Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
