October 31, 1943 - October 31, 2012
Mr. Freddie Lee McGill; loving father, papaw, brother, and uncle. He was born on October 31, 1943. He was a very simple man who's wealth was pure love for his family and life itself. To everyone around him, he seemed to be eternally happy, and he willingly shared that joy with anyone whose life he touched. For Freddie, bringing out the best in any situation was as easy as offering a smile, a witty remark or the flash of his big blue eyes.
His parents were Fred McGill and Mildred McGill. Freddie was raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was raised with two siblings. He had one younger brother, Charley, and one younger sister, Pattie. He loved both of them very much.
Freddie was blessed with four children; two sons, Steven and Scott, and two daughters, Latisha and Felicia. He was also blessed with four grandchildren; Courtney, Ceanna, Austin, and Olivia.
Freddie loved to do yard work, working on lawn mowers, and going junkin'. He would give anyone in need the shirt off his back. Freddie was one of the most caring and loving people you would ever meet.
Freddie passed away on October 31, 2012 at Hillcrest North. He fought a brave battle against Pulmonary Fibrosis and many other health issues. He is survived by children Steven McGill, Scott McGill, Latisha Jones, and Felicia (Clint) Taylor; his grandchildren Courtney, Ceanna, Austin, and Olivia; his brother Charley (Judy) McGill and sister Pattie Smith, nephews Charley (Wendi) McGill Jr., Shaun Smith; and niece Kim (Mitch) Winters and a host of other family members and friends. Services were held at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel. Freddie was then laid to rest in Sherwood Gardens.
Freddie brought joy to all of those around him. Freddie Lee McGill lived life to its fullest and made everyone around him happier just for knowing him. He will be remembered with a smile.
