Brown, Austin Eugene, age 90, of South Knoxville, died peacefully Thursday, September 18, 2014 at UT Medical Center. He was a member of Vestal United Methodist Church and a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II. Austin was an avid fisherman and gardener. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Linnie Kate Brown; son, Richard Brown; son-in-law, Johnny Rauhuff; parents, OJ Sr. and Bertie Leatherwood Brown; brothers, Lester and OJ, Jr.; sisters, Jessie Daniel and Katherine Burns. He is survived by daughters: Brenda (Virgil) Avans and Genia Rauhuff; son OJ (Hazel) Brown; grandchildren: Brad (Hope) Avans, Chris (Kimberly) Avans, Missy Ward, Keith (Elisha) Brown, Tessa Brown, Russell Brown, Kerri Brown, and John (Leigh) Rauhuff; several great and great-great grandchildren; and brother, Kenneth Brown. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:30 PM until 6:00 PM in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 6:00 PM, Dr. Byron Chambers officiating. Family and friends will meet at Woodlawn Cemetery on Monday at 11:00 AM for the interment, Rev. Gerald Fender officiating. Full military honors will be provided by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com
