September 7, 1924 - September 18, 2014 Brown, Austin Eugene, age 90, of South Knoxville, died peacefully Thursday, September 18, 2014 at UT Medical Center. He was a member of Vestal United Methodist Church and a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II. Austin was an avid fisherman and gardener. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Linnie Kate Brown; son, Richard Brown; son-in-law, Johnny Rauhuff; parents, OJ Sr. and Bertie Leatherwood Brown; brothers, Lester and OJ, Jr.; sisters, Jessie Daniel and Katherine Burns. He is survived by daughters: Brenda (Virgil) Avans and Genia Rauhuff; son OJ (Hazel) Brown; grandchildren: Brad (Hope) Avans, Chris (Kimberly) Avans, Missy Ward, Keith (Elisha) Brown, Tessa Brown, Russell Brown, Kerri Brown, and John (Leigh) Rauhuff; several great and great-great grandchildren; and brother, Kenneth Brown. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:30 PM until 6:00 PM in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 6:00 PM, Dr. Byron Chambers officiating. Family and friends will meet at Woodlawn Cemetery on Monday at 11:00 AM for the interment, Rev. Gerald Fender officiating.
