Evelyn Anderson Arnold - age 87 of Newport passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at her home. Formerly from Knoxville, she was of the United Methodist faith and will be dearly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister, brother, and many friends. "Nana" grew up in the Kimberlin Heights community and raised her family in Newport, where she touched many lives as a kindergarten teacher at First Methodist Church. She was a gifted musician, seamstress, gardener and cook and loved to share her talents with family and friends. She loved family events, where she served all a wonderful banquet and entertained with popular piano selections from the Great American Songbook. Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Blanche Anderson, sister, June Boling and sister-in law, June Anderson. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert, her children David (Debbie) of Travelers Rest, SC, Debbie Epley (Ray), of Greeneville, John, of Newport, Jena Bradley (Bert) of Sevierville, and grandchildren Jill Grogg (Michael) and Meghan Guth (Eric) of Travelers Rest, Jonathan Epley (Lia) of Glen Burnie, Maryland, Christopher Epley of Greeneville, Weston Epley of Knoxville, and Kate Bradley of Sevierville; great-grandchildren, Andrea, David, Emily, and Austin of Travelers Rest, sister Betty Houser (Howell), brother Robert Anderson of Knoxville and brother-in-law Earl Boling of Sevierville and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet at 11:30 am on January 23, 2015 at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on Gov. John Sevier Hwy. in Knoxville for a committal service. Receiving of friends will be on January 24, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Newport at 6:00 pm. A celebration of life service will follow at 7:30 pm.
