Proffitt, 67, of Gatlinburg, died Friday, July 28, 2000 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, George E. and Lura M. Proffitt; one brother; daughter, Tammy L. Proffitt; and son, Marty H. Proffitt. Survivors include his wife, Harriet Proffitt; sons and daughters-in-law, Benny G. and Rachel Proffitt, and Lloyd D. and Doris Proffitt; daughters, Connie S. Proffitt, and Patricia A. Proffitt; three grandchildren; brother, Pleas F. Proffitt; sister, Lucille Kelly; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside service and interment is 11 a.m. Monday at Proffitt Cemetery with the Rev. William "Bill" Cantrell officiating.
