Vertie worked for many years at Blount Memorial Hospital in the nursery, before owning and operating Whites Grocery, and was known for her “Vertie Burgers”. She was preceded in death by husband, Harry; parents, Rebecca “Mom Becky” and Bob “Pop” Garner; son, Dillon White; daughter, Janice White; and grandson, Craig White. Survived by her children, Becky and Bill Cable, Ronnie and Beryl White of Townsend, Jay and Mary White of Sevierville, Bethel and Dottie White, Lance and Brenda White, Donna and Bob Peddigo of Maryville; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Hillcrest Baptist Church Cemetery.
