McCARTER, BLANCHE NEWMAN - 73, of Gatlinburg, died Sunday, December 19, 1999. She was of the Baptist faith. She was founder and owner, along with her deceased husband, Bill McCarter, of Crescent Printing Company in Gatlinburg. She was also a former member of The Board of Directors of The Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce. She was preceded in death by her parents Sam and Adra Proffitt Newman; sisters, Grace Etherton and Pauline Stinnett; brother, Pless Newman; infant daughter, Pamela Ann and beloved husband of 49 years, Bill McCarter.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Karen McCarter of Sevierville; daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Larry Waters of Gatlinburg; grandchildren, Ashley McCarter of Sevierville and David and Adrienne Waters of Gatlinburg; sisters, Jean Cole of Gatlinburg, Mae Large of Sevierville and Frankie Oury of Pigeon Forge. Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Atchley's Funeral Home in the West Chapel with Dr. Marvin Cameron and Rev. Larry Burcham officiating. Pallbearers: Gary Cole, Tommy Wayne Large, Joe Newman, Wesley Newman, Vern Hippensteal, Larry Stinnett, Robert Oury and Bob Smith. Nephews will be Honorary Pallbearers. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 7:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Atchley's Funeral Home.
