- Dad told me his third name was McKinley when I was a teenager. ss#285-09-9735
from Later Day Saints ss record, Sarasota, Florida.
His father was a
"Marble Rubber" which means he engraved tombstones. Her mother was a
housewife. The family evidently experienced very hard times when they were
severely lacking in food and money. Our mother went to work when she was a
child, after attending school through the sixth grade. She worked in a sewing
machine factory helping earn money to feed the family. When she was a young
teenager she met our father, Theodore "Ted" McElroy and in the words of Ricky
Nelson's song it was "Hello, Mary Lou, Goodbye heart" for our Dad. Mom wrote
in her diary she didn't remember who proposed to whom and the first thing she
knew they were married she was 15 years old and Dad was 20, almost 21. They
stayed together until our Dad's death in l969.
