Lynn Gregg announces candidacy for Cocke County Clerk
A Carson Springs man has announced his candi- dacy in the upcoming Re- publican Primary for the position of Cocke County Clerk. Lynn Gregg, 46, Old Sevierville Highway, has lived in the Carson Springs community since 1972. He is the son of John and
Judy Gregg of Newport. He has one sister, Crystal Mantooth, her husband Terry, and their children Kalsea and Tyler. He is the grandson of Marie Francis, also of Newport. Gregg’s work history has been one of serving the public for many years. He is currently employed by the Cocke County Board of Education (14 years) and Rural Medical Services. He has been the owner of 3-D Daycare for 14 years and has received the People’s Choice Award the last seven years in a row. He was selected in December for the Star Ad- visory Board for Daycares in 2014. Gregg also attended Walters State Community College, where he received his certi? cate in early child- hood education. Among his experience to provide cus- tomer satisfaction, he also has been employed with Chef’s Catering in Sevier- ville for 10 years. Gregg said, “I take pride in customer satisfaction in everything I do—from the students on my bus route, the parents at my daycare, to the customers I serve while catering large events.” Gregg has always en- joyed helping others and one of the most rewarding things that he has been part of is providing Christ- mas gifts to the residents at Newport Medical Cen- ter – Convalescent Center for 20 years. “Just seeing the smiles on their faces makes me feel like I have accom- plished what we are sup- posed to do for others,” he said. “A lot of public ser- vice of? ces have forgotten the reason they are there; ‘the public.’”
Gregg said that is why he has chosen his slogan to be—Keeping the “pub- lic” in public service. He feels like people work very hard for their money and value their time and you should not come into an of? ce and get the feeling that they were just a num- ber and not important. “When you provide a public service, the pub- lic is considered your boss and as long as I have worked and you don’t show your boss respect and take pride in your job, then you will be re- placed,” he said. “As a public service of? cer, this should be the rule not the exception. Things should be done to bene? t the customers not the work- ers providing the service. That is why if I am elected I would like to put several things in effect to help the customers that are pressed for time and the ones who work odd hours and just cannot make it in before the standard clos- ing of business.” Gregg says he under- stands the importance of experience, but when you have a trained and dedicated staff with a new approach on making the customer and community your No. 1 priority, expe- rience is not what counts the most. Showing ap- preciation to the custom- ers that have allowed you the opportunity to serve them and treat the cus- tomer needing a simple tag renewal the same as you would the large car lot dealerships. He added, “That is what matters the most. I would appreciate your vote and support on May 6.”
