He is preceded in death by sons, Lynn and Don; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Best ; brothers, Willie and Roscoe; sister, Athelene. Survivors include wife of 63 years, Stella Bailey Best ; son and daughter in law, Rev. Larry and Loretta Best of Morristown and Knoxville; daughter and son in law, Brenda and Ernie Medlin of Maryville; daughter in law, Marsha Best of Windmill Gap, West Va.; sisters, Almeta Carpenter of Walland, Thelma Harvey of Fairburn, Ga. and Stanley of Maryville; seven grandchildren and spouses and ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Burial in Union Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Fairview United Methodist Church at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 14 with Dr. Jerry Russell and Rev. Ken Green officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. Friends may also visit the family at the home of Brenda and Ernie Medlin at 3113 Mint Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fairview United Methodist Church Building Fund, The Stella and Leon Best Scholarship Fund at Hiwassee College or Blount Memorial Hospice.
