Ralph Lee Chambers, Sr. age 90 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Morningview Village Assisted Living. He was co-owner of Smith Mortuary, Grandview Cemetery, and The Flower Shop. He was a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Blount County for 58 years. Ralph was a United States Coast Guard Veteran serving during World War II. He was a member and past master of New Providence Masonic Lodge #128, F&AM, Knoxville Scottish Rite, Kerbela Shrine Temple, past president of the Blount County Shrine Club, 60 year member and past commander of American Legion Post 13. Ralph was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church and attended Maryville Church of Christ. Ralph was a native of Dandridge, TN. He was preceded in death by: Wife, Lois (Walker) Chambers; Parents, Pearl Lee & Mollie (Rainwater) Chambers; Brother & Sister-in-law, Frank & Rosemary Chambers. Survivors include: Son & Daughter-in-law, Lee & Laura Chambers; Daughter & Son-in-law, Mollie & Joe Nicholson; Grandchildren, Jason Chambers & wife Angie and Justin Chambers & wife Ingrid; Great-Grandchildren, Jake, Lily, and Luke Chambers all of Maryville; Cousins, Mary Nell Walker & husband Curtis of Knoxville, H.B. Chambers & wife Billie Jean, Cecil Chambers & wife Raycene, and Tommy Chambers & wife Jonne all of Dandridge; Nieces, Julie Chambers and Nancy Dowling; Nephews, Brad & Jeff Chambers. The family would like to thank special caregivers Kathy Beach and Betty Hayes, Morning View Village Assisted Living and Hospice Palliative Care for the outstanding care and love for Ralph. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Dr. Jerry Russell and Rev. Carl White officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 29, 2010 at Grandview Cemetery for the interment. Memorial donations may be made to: East Tennessee Childrens Hospital, 2018 Clinch Ave., Knoxville, TN 37916.
