Glenna Lou Ricker , age 63, of Greeneville, passed away Monday evening.
Mrs. Ricker retired from Greene Valley Developmental Center after 31 years. She worked part-time for Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who was affectionately known as "Granny" by her grandchildren and special nieces. She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching hummingbirds from her front porch.
Survivors include her husband: Robert L. "Bob" Ricker ; two sons and daughters-in-law: Kevin and Jodie Ricker of Greeneville, and Craig and Sara Ricker of Buchanan, Va.; grandchildren: Mason Ricker of Greeneville, and Sam, Jesse, and Charlie Stein, all of Buchanan; four brothers and three sisters-in-law: Keith and Sharee Akers of Texas, George and Debbie Akers of Georgia, and David Akers, and Pete and Susie Akers, all of Newport; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Marie Beach of Kentucky, Georgia and Donald Hipps of Chuckey, and Ethel and Swan Ellison of Newport; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: James Everette Akers and Ida Beatrice Norman Akers; and two brothers: James A. Akers and Robert Dean Akers.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Rev. Martha Beamer will officiate. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Shiloh Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be William Ross, Henard Myers, Billy Britton, Bobby Connors, Anthony Shipley, and Don Hipps.
