John Wilson 'Babe’ Campbell, age 71, of Newport, passed away Friday evening at his home.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, an avid hiker, fisherman, auto mechanic and loved to travel.
He was preceded in death by his parents Warren and Bertha McGaha Campbell and sister Beulah Mae Benson.
He is survived by his children Judy Silica of Cocoa Beach, FL. John Campbell, Jr. of Newport, Edward Campbell of Millville, NJ, and Brad Campbell of Newport; sister, Sarah Lou Dalton, Ruby Morris, Betty Dalton, Stella Freshour, Polly Stuart and Jean Coggins all of Newport; brothers, Charles Andrew Campbell and Buddy Edward Campbell of Newport; special friend JoAnn Suthard of Newport; also eleven grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Interment in Resthaven Memorial Garden.
The L’CPL Charles C. Roberts 102 DAV will be in charge of graveside services.
Family will receive friends Monday from 12 noon until 3 p.m. prior to service.
Brown Funeral Home is honored to serve the John W. Campbell family.
