Michael David Townsend, 57, of Sevierville went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Friday, March 24, 2017. He devoted his life to serving God, and was a member of Grace Redemption Church. He worked for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Service for 29 years.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Ogle-Townsend; daughters, Chelsea Gail Townsend and fiancé, Moses Carpenter, Tonya Ogle Rolen, and April Ogle Jenkins; son, Bobby Joe Ogle; grandchildren, Aron Jenkins, Michael Joe Jenkins, Austin Ogle, and Bailey Beckum; sisters, Patricia Townsend, Windy Kay French and husband, Gary French, Tracy Lynn Ball and husband, Ricky Ball, and Amanda Styles-Mathis and husband, David Mathis; mother-in-law, Rebecca Phillips; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Phillips, Tracy Phillips and wife, Judy Phillips; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth and Seth Patton, Christopher and Kaitlin Phillips, Julia Ruth Ball, Faith Lynnanne French, Sheridan Faith and Olivia Grace Mathis; surviving aunts and uncles, Bea and Claude Barnes, Delmar and Dot Townsend, Xan and Betty Cogdill, Bood Cogdill, Bonnie Cogdill, Mary Cogdill, and Dora Faye Cogdill, life-long friends, Darryl Zeh and family, Doyle King and family, Cindy Stinnett, Brad Roberts, Paul Bogart, Ashley Perry, and so many family and friends that he loved deeply.
Michael was preceded in death by his first wife, Chrystal Dawn Townsend; parents, David and Dell Townsend; father-in-law, Earl Phillips; brother-in-law, Dale "Bubby" Phillips; and grandchildren, Sarah and Tyler Rolen.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 PM Sunday, March 26th with the funeral service to follow at 3 PM at Atchley's Smoky Mountain Chapel, 220 Emert Street, Pigeon Forge, TN. Rev. Donnie Jester will be officiating.
Family and friends will meet 10 AM Monday in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens, Pigeon Forge, TN for the graveside service and entombment. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park employees will serve as pallbearers.
