She was a devoted Christian, and a member of Williamsburg Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, David Ottis Townsend; parents, Wade and Inez Cogdill; father and mother-in-law, Dowe and Maude Townsend; sisters, Marjorie King and Ruby Styles; brothers, Wayne, Don, and Tex Cogdill; sisters-in-law, Faye King and Faye Cogdill; brothers-in-law, Wade Townsend, Carroll King, Ben King, and J.D. Styles; daughter-in-law, Chrystal Dawn Townsend; great grandchildren, Tyler and Sarah Rolen. Survivors: Son: Michael David Townsend and wife Teresa; Daughters: Patricia Ann Townsend, Windy Kay French and Husband Gary, Tracy Lynn Ball and Husband Ricky, and Amanda Styles Mathis and husband David; Grandchildren: Julia Ruth Ball, Chelsea Gail Townsend and fiancée Moses Carpenter, Faith Lynnanne French, Tonya Rolen, April Jenkins, and Bobby Joe Ogle; Great Grandchildren: Sheridan Faith Mathis and Olivia Grace Mathis, Aron Jenkins, Michael Jenkins, and Austin Ogle Brothers: Xan Cogdill and wife Betty, Wade "Bood" Cogdill; Claude Barnes, and Delmar Townsend; Sisters: Dora Faye Cogdill, Mary Cogdill, Bea Barnes, Bonnie Lou Cogdill, and Dot Townsend; Many wonderful nieces, nephews, and special friends.
