Pierce, 78, of Del Rio, went to be with the Lord on March 26, 1999, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Laura Pierce. He is survived by his wife, Nora Pierce, of Del Rio; sons and daughters-in-law, Orville and Judy Pierce of Del Rio and Michael and Dena Pierce of Lincolnton, North Carolina; daughters and son-in-law, Ann, Frankie and Retta Pierce and Vickie and Glen Shelton, all of Del Rio; grandchildren, Sarah, Cale and April Worley, Scottie and Byron Pierce, Brittany Brown, Randi Kelly and Robbie Pierce; great-grandchildren, Justin and Megan Shelton and Dylan Pierce; also one brother, J.D. Pierce of Newport. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. F. Byron Chambers and Rev. Terry Ailor officiating, with burial in Jonestown Cemetery with Lance Corporal Charles Roberts D.A.V. Chapter #102 conducting graveside service. Manes Funeral Home is in charge.
