Just Plain Talk: Rock in the New Year with music and resolve to keep old friends We got a nice visit from one of the oldest and longest-time readers of the Newport Plain Talk shortly before Christmas. Zola Ruth (Gilbert) Steelman was at our office to place an obituary for her son, Robert Steelman, who died Dec. 5 in Virginia. She turned 90 on Oct. 30, 2013. Born in Greene County, she has lived most of her life in the Houston Valley area near Del Rio and has been reading the Plain Talk for over 50 years. When talking about Robert, she noted that he had endured the death of four close family members over a period of two years.
