Merlin Gomez of Fresno passed away on Tuesday, Novem- ber 3, 2009. He was born on January 2, 1928, and is preceded in death by his parents Eduarda and Benjamin Gomez ; and his brothers, Louie and Frank Gomez .
Merlin served in the Armed Forces and was a paratrooper in the U.S. army. After the service he worked at Schenley winery until retirement.
He is survived by his wife Maria Miranda; and stepdaughter, Lucero Gutierrez and her husband Jorge Delgado; and stepson, Hugo Gutierrez. He had nine step- grandsons, and one stepgranddaughter. Merlin is also survived by brothers, Bob Go- mez of Los Angeles, Benjamin Gomez of Florida, Joe Gomez , Eddie Gomez and Charles Gomez all of Fresno sisters, Vera Olson of Wisconsin and Dolores Rod- riguez of Fresno; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Monday at La Paz Funeral Home.
A Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, with internment at St. Peters Catholic cemetery.
